Let’s be honest, I could probably come up with wayyy more than five things, but I don’t want to bore all of you by writing a million pages. I started my wedding photography business in 2018 officially and it’s changed my life in so many ways. I was that kid who loved spending their time looking at old photos that my mom kept in boxes in the entertainment stand. And that friend that made everyone take a million pictures anytime we did anything. Even though I loved photos and taking photos, I never saw myself as a photographer. God knew that this was what I was supposed to do. I am thankful He led me to this job even when I didn’t see it as an option. Here are five things I absolutely love about being a wedding photographer.

1. Capturing a moment in time. How dang cool is it to be able to capture not just any moment, but the most important moments of someones life? To be able to witness multiple peoples wedding days and being there for every moment of it, is really indescribable. I LOVE love stories and being able to witness and capture so many fills up my heart in so many ways.

2. Making new friends. Being with couples during their biggest moments leads to such deep friendships with them. I have met so many couples that I now call my close friends. Honestly, before being a wedding photographer I had pretty bad social anxiety. Going to places where I didn’t know anyone was as scary as Starbucks being out of pink drinks LOL. Somehow, photography has completely brought me out of shell and helped me make so many new friends!

3. Being the #bosslady. I mean this mayyyy be the best part 😉 but really. I love being in charge of business, making business decisions for myself, focusing and accomplishing MY goals, and creating something I love. It makes me feel confident and in charge and I love it. As someone who has a hard time choosing what to eat for dinner most days, I didn’t think I would be able to make business decisions, but it’s the best. And I mean it’s just fun to say you’re the boss, am I right?

4. Having a flexible schedule. I’ll say that I know flexible schedules aren’t for everyone, but I love it that way. I like being in control of when I work and when I don’t. I get to choose when I take on a wedding and when I decide not to. If there’s an event I don’t want to miss, I can decide not to work that day. I’ve never really been a 9-5 person, so this works best for me!

5. Getting to be creative. I obviously love the business side of photography, but the creative side is so much fun as well. Being creative has always been a huge part of who I am. I remember going over to my grandmas when I was little and always asking to do arts and crafts with her. It’s one of my favorite self care activities and I feel very alive and happy when I am creating. There’s something about making something that makes you feel so good about yourself and your skills.
